Cody Donahue

Trooper Cody J. Donahue, a member of Class 2005-2 and father of two, was killed this afternoon while assisting with the investigation of a crash on northbound I-25 near mile post 180 (in the area of Plum Creek, just south of Castle Rock). A passing truck-tractor and semi-trailer hit Donahue as it was passing in the right, northbound lane of I-25. Trooper Donahue was on, or near, the right shoulder when he was struck. The truck driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigating officers from Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Trooper Donahue joined the Colorado State Patrol in July, 2005 and was initially assigned to Fairplay. In September, 2008, he transferred to Broomfield, then transferred to Castle Rock in May, 2014. According to news reports, Donahue was assisting another trooper with the investigation at the time he was hit.
