The following information was obtained from the Colorado State Patrol Alumni Association. Jane Crisman, the ACSPP Retiree Representative, supplied the following to them which the ACSPP is relaying here:
CSP Sgt. Sergeant Michael Carr reports some great news regarding CPL Ivan Alvarado, who was seriously injured in a crash with an Arapahoe County SO deputy on June 17th. Alvarado was released from the hospital and returned home on Tuesday (June 27th). He is still in the process of recovering from his injuries and will need plenty of rest and recovery time. It’s going to be a long road but Ivan is determined to make a full recovery. He will need plenty of rest, however. Should you want to send him good wishes, cards to him can be sent to the Limon CSP Office:
Colorado State Patrol, Troop 3D
P.O. Box 1090 (131 C Ave)
Limon, CO 80828
(719) 775-2964 (Office)
If you are in the area and/or wish to help support the family, here are some suggestions from the Limon Troop:
How can you help?
- Purchase gift cards from King Soopers, Subway, Starbucks, Taco Bell, McDonalds and Visa Gift cards. Gift cards can be dropped off at the reception desk at CSP Headquarters @ 700 Kipling or you can mail to the Limon office (address above). The family would like to know who made the donation, so please be sure to include your name and your division/troop/association.
- Make a meal to feed 5 adults. Contact Elaine Mo at (720)732-1876 to sign up to ensure we don’t duplicate meals and to let the family know a meal will be delivered. The family doesn’t have any food allergies and enjoys all types of cuisine!
- Volunteer to deliver the meals to the Alvarado family. The family lives in Strasburg. Meal coordination will also be managed thru Elaine Mo (720)732-1876. Maybe you aren’t a chef, but you have time to drive the meals to the family. This would be a huge help!
Tim Hilferty and his wife Jodi are very close friends with the Alvarado family and have been their primary contacts. Although many of us have the greatest of intentions to help, sometimes families can be a little overwhelmed by all of the love and support coming their way. Please feel free to call Tim (719)740-8000 or Jodi (719)740-0520 should you have any questions or if you want to offer assistance to the family which may have been overlooked.
Ivan’s wife, Ruth, has expressed her sincere thanks to everyone for their prayers, love and support. Ivan and Ruth’s immediate family members live in Guatemala, so you can imagine how wonderful it felt to have immediate support from the CSP family during this difficult time.
